Since it has been in business for some time, Dell is renowned for producing a variety of high-quality laptops. In response, the business introduced the Dell Inspiron 13 in 2019.

A portable laptop with great features and optimum performance is the Dell Inspiron 13 7000. A configurable dedicated GPU and an eleventh gen Intel Core i7 processor are some of these specifications.

But fantastic features and specs can come with terrific pricing. To be more specific, the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 used to have a retail price of $1,199.00 when I wrote this review in March 2022.

You must be thinking about whether this laptop will genuinely perform well enough to justify its high price. You’ll just have to read the review in its entirety to find out, though.

The 13.3-inch display of the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 is vibrant and comes with FHD (1920 x 1080) resolution. The display on this laptop features a glossy surface rather than the often-seen matte surface.

Due to its glossy finish, the display is able to produce a great color presentation, intensity, and contrast. But if you stare at the screen for too long, the glossy surface might lead to eyestrain and screen glares.

The Dell Inspiron 13 7000’s display has an anti-glare coating, which is a plus. When the laptop is operated in a bright environment, the anti-glare coating, an extra layer of the display, decreases reflection.

The Dell Inspiron 13 7000 should be easier to use outside as a result. In addition, the IPS panel used in this laptop’s display enables it to provide wide viewing angles.

As a result, regardless of the viewing angle, the images and content just on display would stay correct. The 13.3-inch FHD display on this laptop, however, is encircled by substantial matte-black bezels.

Because it has an HD webcam in the middle, the bottom bezel seems thicker than the others. For routine Skype and casual video conversations, this webcam performs adequately.

Design & Built

The Dell Inspiron 13 7000 is beautifully styled in terms of design. The laptop also comes out as one of Dell’s most beautiful laptops based on its visual aesthetic.

Speaking about its looks, there are many different color options available for the Dell Inspiron 13 7000. Silver, charcoal black, and champagne pink are some of these hues.

This laptop offers a matte-finished aluminum chassis in addition to these color options. The laptop seems incredibly sturdy and durable because of its aluminum construction.

In conclusion, this notebook is so sturdy that you won’t even notice when it creaks. In addition, the laptop’s lid and base are joined by two strong, secure hinges with a silver finish.

With more attention paid to the lid, it has a modern “Dell” logo with a slick texture or finish in the center. However, you might find it challenging to open its lid with one hand due to how tightly the hinges are set.

The dimensions of the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 are 340.1 mm in width, 197 mm in depth, and 14.98 mm in height, and it only weighs 1050 g. This laptop can’t possibly be heavier than one of the thinnest models ever made given its current weight.

In general, the laptop is significantly lighter than the vast majority, if not all, of its rivals. The HP Envy x360 13-inch, for instance, has dimensions of 306.7 by 214.6 by 14.9 millimeters and weighs 1300 grams.

Keyboard & Touchpad

The Dell Inspiron 13 7000 has a chiclet-style keyboard mounted on the deck. This keyboard’s keys are big enough and spaced out correctly.

Additionally, they provide a comfortable experience for the user and are quite responsive. It’s impressive that the keypad is also backlighted, making it possible for you to comfortably type in dimly light areas.

The Dell Inspiron 13 7000 has a roomy touchpad with built-in click buttons underneath this keyboard. This touchpad’s surface is incredibly smooth, making navigating simple and finger gliding effortless.

Additionally, Windows 10 multi-touch movements like pinch-to-zoom are supported by the touchpad.

The Core i7-1165G7 processor included in the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 is one of the most powerful available. This particular CPU has a base frequency of 2.80 gigahertz and a maximum frequency of 4.70 gigahertz, both of which refer to its speed.

In addition, the central processing unit is a quad-core processor of the 11th generation with 2 megabytes of cache memory. Because of this, the Inspiron 13 7000 should have no trouble coping with either simple or complex computing tasks thanks to the CPU that it is equipped with.

In order to provide a more in-depth analysis of the capabilities of the processor found in this laptop, I will talk briefly about its performance here on the Cinebench R15 test. In a nutshell, Cinebench R15 is a benchmarking test that evaluates the overall performance of a computer’s central processing unit (CPU).

Briefly, the benchmark test accomplishes this goal by determining the maximum speed that a processor is capable of reaching when all of its cores are being utilized. As a result, the Cinebench R15 runs two separate tests: one of them is a single-core test, while the other is a multi-core test.

To be more specific, the performance of the processor is evaluated in the single-core test when just one of its cores is being utilized. In the meantime, the multi-core test analyses how well the processor performs when each of its cores is simultaneously being utilized.

In addition, the performance of the computer’s processor is indicated by the results obtained on these Cinebench R15 tests. The higher the scores, the better. According to the findings of the tests, the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 obtained a score of 210 points when it was put through the single-core test.

The multi-core performance of the laptop, in contrast, hand, was evaluated at 845 points. The performance of this Dell laptop is superior to that of the ASUS ExpertBook B3 Flip, which likewise makes use of a central processing unit (CPU) based on the Intel Core i7-1165G7 architecture.

Particularly, the ASUS ExpertBook B3 Flip achieved a score of 115 points just on the Cinebench R15 single-core test and a score of 553 points here on the Cinebench R15 multi-core test.

In conclusion, the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 features a strong Intel Core i7 CPU processor that is capable of delivering excellent overall performance. In addition, when it came to a test that measured CPU performance, this laptop bested the majority of its rivals.

Memory & Storage

The Dell Inspiron 13 7000 has an integrated 8GB LPDDR4X 4267 MHz RAM as memory. This laptop’s memory is directly soldered to the motherboard and is referred to as “onboard” memory.

The ram cannot be replaced or upgraded as a result. Although 8 GB RAM ought to be adequate for the majority of jobs, some intense tasks necessitate a bigger RAM quantity.

Thank goodness, there is a Dell Inspiron 13 7000 variant that comes with 16 GB of LPDDR4X 4267 MHz RAM. Therefore, the laptop should be able to do intensive tasks like editing software with this amount of RAM.

The laptop should also have no trouble multitasking. Speaking of multitasking, the Inspiron 13 7000 will be able to operate roughly 20 Chrome tabs at once without slowing thanks to its 16 GB RAM.

I will briefly review the PCMark 10 testing for this laptop with 16 GB of RAM to better evaluate its performance. The benchmark test PCMark 10 determines a computer’s memory performance by replicating common productivity tasks.

Additionally, the computer’s memory performance increases with the benchmark test score. Thus, based on the results of the PCMark 10 test, the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 received a score of 3703.

The Dell Inspiron 13 7000 laptop has an M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD with a maximum storage capacity of 2 TB. Clearly, 2 TB of storage capacity ought to be adequate for the majority of users, even those who need a lot of space.

Additionally, the laptop has a micro SD card slot for storage extension in case you ever need more space. The laptop should also have a quick boot time and great reading and writing speed due to the use of SSD.

I’ll now look at the laptop’s performance on a CrystalDiskMark test to demonstrate this. In a nutshell, CrystalDiskMark is a benchmarking test that evaluates the storage disc performance of a computer.

It accomplishes this by assessing the storage drive’s read and writes speeds. To be clear, read speed merely refers to how quickly data opens on a computer’s storage disc.

While write speed refers to how quickly a computer’s storage device can store a file. After that has been established, it is critical to understand that a high “MBps” result on the CrystalDiskMark testing denotes a quick read and write speed.

According to the test results, the sequential read speed for the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 was 901.3 MBps. Additionally, this laptop’s sequential write speed was 235.7 MBps.

This Dell laptop performed much better than most of its closest rivals who also use SSD. For example, the Acer Spin 5 SP513-54N-74V2 produced sequential read and write speeds of 309 MBps and 522.34 MBps, respectively.

Lastly, the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 has a micro SD card slot and a suitable SSD for storage expansion. Additionally, this laptop outperformed the majority of other laptops in its class in a storage benchmarking test.

Firstly, there are two graphics card options available for the Dell Inspiron 13 7000. An embedded Intel Iris Xe Video card is the initial GPU choice.

A baseline frequency of 400 MHz & max frequency of 1300 MHz is offered by this GPU in terms of speed. Additionally, this GPU is included within the laptop’s processor like an integrated graphics card.

The GPU and CPU share system memory in order to perform activities related to graphics. The Dell Inspiron 13 7000 will therefore be unable to perform graphics-intensive software or games effectively because of the Intel Iris Xe Graphics.

An Nvidia MX350 graphics card is the second available option. A base frequency is 1354 MHz & max frequency is 1468 MHz are provided by this GPU in terms of speed.

This graphics card has 2 GB of DDR5 VRAM and is a dedicated GPU, in contrast to the first GPU choice. Consequently, the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 should be able to tackle graphically demanding tasks like video editing with this GPU.

Additionally, the laptop would be capable of running the majority of AAA games. As an illustration, the laptop’s frame rate of 71 fps while running F1 2021 was impressive (frame per second).

I’ll now look at the Dell Inspiron 13 7000’s 3DMark 11 test result to further confirm how well it performs with the dedicated GPU option. A benchmark test called 3DMark 11 measures a computer’s overall capacity for producing images.

Furthermore, a decent GPU performance is indicated by a top score on this test. As a consequence, the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 received a 3DMark 11 test score of 6287.

Comparatively, this Dell laptop narrowly beat out the majority of its top rivals. For instance, the NVIDIA GeForce MX350 GPU-equipped Acer Aspire 5 A517 achieved a score of 6038 on the 3DMark 11 test.

Dell’s Inspiron 13 7000 has a relatively limited number of ports on its sides due to the company’s decision to keep things simple. To be more specific, the left side of the laptop is equipped with an audio jack, an HDMI connector, a USB Type-A port, and a USB Type-C port (also known as a Thunderbolt port).

On the other hand, the right-hand side of the laptop features only one more USB Type-A connector as well as an SD card reader.

The 4-cell 53 Wh battery pack powers the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 laptop. The battery life of this laptop, according to Dell, is up to 8 hours.

I’ll quickly go over the laptop’s battery rundown test results to back up this assertion. In a nutshell, this battery drain test is repeatedly using a Wifi to browse the internet until the laptop shuts off.

As a result, the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 provided a battery capacity of 6 hours and 45 minutes at the conclusion of the battery rundown test. Even while the battery life is respectable, it falls short of Dell’s 8-hour claim.

Additionally, this Dell laptop is inferior to other laptops within the category. On the same battery depletion test, the HP Envy x360 13-inch, for instance, survived 10 hours and 45 minutes.

A portable laptop with amazing features and outstanding specs is the Dell Inspiron 13 7000. This laptop specifically features a potent 11th gen Intel Core i7 CPU processor and a choice of a dedicated graphics card.

Not only that, but the laptop also has a plush backlit keyboard and a stunning FHD display. The Dell Inspiron 13 7000 is somewhat pricey, though.

Despite this, the laptop delivers a respectable performance in line with its high price. The Dell Inspiron 13 7000 is a fantastic laptop that is worth purchasing if you can afford it.
